Summer Speed-Strength-and Agility Camps
Dear Coaches, Parents & Athletes,
The UC San Diego Strength and Conditioning department is proud to announce that we are offering multiple camps this summer 2011. We would be happy to provide the opportunity for your young athlete to work alongside the Triton strength and conditioning coaches. Attending our camps will give your son or daughter experience working with college coaches in a collegiate environment. Each camp provides athletes exposure to new exercises, workout tempo, and corrective strategies that we only wish we had growing up. Each athlete will complete a functional movement screen. The screen allows us to recognize which movement patterns an athlete may be deficient in. Once a deficiency is discovered, preventative steps need to be taken to keep the athlete on the playing field. Many of the injuries that we see are merely from improper movement patterns – needless injuries that we can correct before they happen. A movement screen allows us to assess the foundation of each athlete – to see how sound the base is before we build on top of it. An athlete can only be as solid as their base and with our approach we can make certain that they are doing what they need to for years of pain-free play. The screen only takes 15-20 minutes and is included in every camp.
What camps we offer:
Sport Specific Movement, Speed, Agility, and Conditioning: Includes all sports
When: July 25th- 27th 2pm-4pm
Where: UCSD Triton Track Stadium
Cost: $120
Pure essentials of weight lifting and core training
What: Two days purely devoted to laying the foundation of a proper lifting program as well as proper techniques for training the core.
When: July 14th-15th 2pm-3:30pm or July 21st-22nd 2pm-3:30pm.
Where: UCSD Spanos Training Center
Cost: $100
Pure Speed
What: A camp purely devoted to all aspects of acceleration & top end speed
When: July 11th-13th 2pm -4pm
Where: UCSD Triton Track Stadium
Cost: $120
Pure Change of Direction and Plyometrics
What: A camp devoted to teaching the art of decelerating the body, changing direction, and the science of hopping and jumping
When: July 18th-20th 2pm-4pm:
Where: UCSD Triton Track Stadium
Cost: $130
Fall Sport Tune up Conditioning
What: A combined conditioning and speed camp designed to prepare you for any fall sport
When: Aug 1st -5th (MWF) 2pm – 3:15pm or August 8th – 12th (MWF) 2pm – 3:15pm
Where: UCSD Triton Track Stadium
Cost: $85
What you can expect:
As mentioned above, a Functional Movement Screen (FMS), a progressive dynamic movement preparation (the same one done with college athletes), the latest acceleration and deceleration techniques, and advanced core movements such as anti-extension, anti-rotation and anti-lateral flexion. The latest and greatest in single response and multiple response plyometric progression and an opportunity to experience the level of coaching received by each UCSD athlete. You can also expect your athlete to be more prepared than ever for their next competitive season.
